The Pop-Up Puppet Truck
The Pop-Up Puppet Truck utilizes the cargo area of a 2003 Ford Ranger to form a pop-up puppet theater which will intentionally get stuck in rush hour traffic. The overall goal of the project is to provide frustrated commuters relief from the stresses of everyday life, and allow for a break from the ordinary. The project will additionally take the form of pop-up curbside and park performances. The Pop-Up Puppet Truck aims to showcase and promote local puppeteer talent from the around the area.
The Pop-Up Puppet Truck was made possible by support of the Chicago chapter of the Awesome Foundation.

About the Director
Born and raised in the rural heartland of America, Donny Gettinger is an artist and curator who explores the humor and tension found within regionally-specific transitional spaces.
After completing his MFA at Indiana University in the summer of 2014, Gettinger moved to Minnesota to pursue various artistic endeavors. He is an assistant artist at James Brenner Sculpture in Minneapolis and also holds the Curator/ Gallery Coordinator position of the ECRAC exhibition space. He has exhibited his own work nationally and internationally, but values the ability to work collaboratively with other artistic individuals. He looks forward to directing the Pop-Up Puppet Truck- “I very fortunate to take on the directorial duties of this project because it provides an opportunity to promote the diverse and enigmatic world of puppetry within the context of pop-up theatre- two areas I have yet to venture myself as an artist. I am very excited to collaborate with all of you and create something truly unique.” You can see more of his work at: www.donnygettinger.com |
